From 21st Century Science and Health:
Through experience, the disciples became more spiritual and better understood what the Teacher had taught. Jesus’ resurrection was also their resurrection. The resurrection was a critical revival, for soon their dear Master would rise again in what has since been called the ascension, when Jesus was no longer heard or seen physically. Jesus’ ascension was the reward for his faithfulness. The resurrection advances individual and collective consciousness. It moves the people’s thoughts out of spiritual dullness and blind belief into the perception of infinite possibilities.
What a contrast between our Lord’s last supper before the crucifixion, and the spiritual breakfast with his disciples after the resurrection. In the bright morning hours on the shore of the Galilean Sea, his misery was seen to have passed away. Majesty prevailed. The disciples’ grief transformed into repentance. Their arrogance was rebuked and their hearts were renewed. Convinced of their unprofitable toil in the dark, and wakened by their Teacher’s voice, they changed their methods, turned away from temporal things, and threw their net on the right side. Their new understanding of Christ, Truth, gave them a new perspective on life in divine Mind, rather than in human mind.
We commemorate, in the dawn of a new light, this spiritual meeting with Christ. We bow before Christ, Truth, to receive more of Spirit’s reappearing. We commune silently with the divine Principle, Love. We celebrate Christ’s victory over death, his probation in the flesh, and his final ascension above matter (flesh).
