I interviewed Don and his grandson, Kyle upstate New Yorkers. They have a fire-wood business and they showed me a piece of equipment called, The Firewood Processor.
But, they laughingly warned me first about how it will make them look lazy!
With the turn of a key, the machine came on. A long tree trunk moved into position. A large chainsaw blade sawed an 18″ log that was immediately sent through a splitter. The split log was then conveyed up into the back of a truck.
Interestingly, these 2 people went years cutting and splitting firewood the old-fashion way and are now taking advantage of the machine because it uses less manpower. But they are are not idle. They are mentally open to answering another dilemma while the Firewood Processor is working. How do we use less electricity?
So far, Don has installed a wind machine and solar panels to power the house, which is off the gird. They use (Light Emitting Diode) LED lights.
I admired how they didn’t get caught up in the invention, but used it as a symbol for finding more answers. Thoughts that have less impact on the earth are worth pondering.
From Science and Health, “Academics of the right sort are requisite. Observation, invention, study, and original thought are expansive. They should promote the advancement of human mind to a higher consciousness, out of all that is mortal…We welcome the increase of knowledge and the end of error, because even human invention must have its day, and we want that day to be prospered by divine Science, by Christ-like reality.”
